Ban Parents from Grassroots Touchlines ? No Way !

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

There is often trouble from the touchlines where FA grass roots football matches are concerned. Within youth and adult football there is all too frequently abuse of players, referees, other supporters and coaches. Sometimes it even gets physical ! So how to fix it ?

It’s been muted in the news, by some so called expert, that the only viable solution would be that parents and supporters should be banned from the touchlines of grass roots football. But surely that is crazy talk ?

Whose Driving ? Seriously, there is an away game an hour plus away, will a critical mass be prepared to drive at a weekend, every 2 weeks, to just drop off their child to play while they do what, wait in the car ?? The only ones suffering will be the children, less kids playing, less games and the downward cycle that follows.

Whose helping the coaches ?  These guys have enough to do and the parents or supporting helpers are needed there to help, to put up and take down nets, check where the nearest defib is, buy the kit, find sponsors etc etc etc. There only going to do that if they are involved. And involved means watching the game!

The highlight of the weekend ! No kidding, for many watching the local grassroots games we’re involved in, it is the highlight of the week, never mind the weekend. Why would anyone want to take that away to fix a problem caused by a tiny minority.

People need to be watched, especially kids.  Where does anyone look 1st when they do something good or bad in a game? The touchline of course. We’re looking for some positive reinforcement or support from those whose views we care about. Take that away and you take a big part of the reason for playing away!

Of course we’d like to fix the touchline issues within grassroot football but surely this country will never ban supporters from grassroot sport touchlines?

We shouldn’t count on it, we live in strange times where things get stopped at the drop of a hat. We believe at DADS v DADS we need to keep our ear to the ground on this one and nip it in the bud before it gathers momentum.

Very few problems at our DADS v DADS match nights, and let’s keep it that way 👍👍. Perhaps the FA could learn a thing or two from us ?

KEEP PLAYING, KEEP OTHERS PLAYINNG TOO. See you at your match night(s) this week.
