So finally from Monday we can play our Fantasy League football again and we’re happy to say that with the exception of 2 locations we’ve got our organised games back on👍. The demand for spaces has been phenomenal, we’re sorry if you haven’t been able to get on a game yet, watch the groups this week and make sure your down as a back up. You can book on games early and we’ll do our best to create spaces and add in additional games where it makes sense long term to get more of you playing.
It’s been a while, for some of the new guys years 😁, so here’s a few tips and reminders.
Follow the DADSvDADS Covid guidelines please. DADSvDADS games can restart because our games are formally organised. That means GAME organisers are asking you to change the way we play UNTIL further notice. Crucially avoiding contact where it’s easy to avoid contact. I know we’ve all seen FA affiliated football unable to do this in the last break from lock down but as we’re a bit wiser, we can, so please toe the line and we’ll be able to KEEP PLAYING and KEEP OTHERS PLAYING TOO..
Many of us haven’t done much higher intensity exercise for 3 months, some of us for even longer. So make sure you build back up at the right pace, take it a bit easier for the 1st few weeks, do a warm up and some even some stretching 😱🤣. Wear the right kit too, the nights can still be cold so as much as we like to wear shorts whatever the weather, start in trousers, warm legs are less prone to injury. And have the right footwear for the pitch surface as that way you get so much more out of your game.
We’ve not just been impacted physical by the lock down some of our mental health will have been impacted too. so remember to Play the right way. DADS v DADS football is, as one of you put it, “football, but without the twa**”. So let’s get back to it 👍, no aggressive play, no moaning and groaning. We don’t come out to play for that. And after 6 months, 1 year, 2 years we end up with some more mates as a result.
Keep you fitness expectations realistic. It takes time to get fitter and to see a noticeable difference. We reckon you don’t notice a difference yourself for 3 months. Remember how long it’s taken to put weight on, it could take some time to get it off again. Even the fittest of us might be carrying a bit of extra timber after another 3 months lock down.
If we make a commitment longer term to keep active, it does make a difference,
The DADSvDADS Spring Fantasy League starts this week. For those new to DADSvDADS that means a 12 week season with points for playing, winning, MOM and bringing new lads along (not 1st ever games though). With a location and night winner, national 1st 11 and ongoing multi season world rankings.
So remember book on with the same name every week and at the end of each night tell the organiser if you’ve scored, and new players you introduced and give a MOM vote. If your nights not starting yet, we’ll sort something out so you don’t lose ground.
It’s great to be back playing, we’re all looking forward to seeing you at your match night this week, back KEEPING PLAYING and KEEPING OTHERS PLAYING TOO 👍⚽!
